I bought this fixture because it was end fed, not center fed like most. I needed to replace a failing low voltage track light that had intermittent connections. So here is what I found out.1. Put the lamps in while the fixture is down, on the floor or a table. It is much easier than after the fixture is up. The manufacturer supplies a worthless suction cup gizmo, it doesn't work if the face of the bulb is textured. I made a loop out of painter's tape, just long enough to get a couple fingers in, then locating the prongs of the lamp into the socket, then a push down and twist secures the lamp. I used the Philips Bright White 3000K lamps, very satisfied. The Philips lamps cost a bit more, but I think they are worth the money.2. If you are brave and can be safe, plug the 2 black wires into an extension cord, then plug the cord in, verifying all of your lights work. Be careful and make sure the fine wire strands don't touch the other wire.3. Remove the mounting plate and secure it to your junction box. There are slots and holes for many different configurations, get this on correctly before proceeding any further. Next assemble the fixture's adjustable height rods to the desired height and tighten these up securely by hand.4. All the other reviews say you need help to put this up. I put mine up by myself and here is how i did it. First, carefully measure the distance from the center of the height rods to the center of the wire hanger on the opposite end. Be careful and measure twice; on the 6 lamp it was 43-3/8". Now measure from the center of your electrical junction box that distance and locate the hanger wire mounting. Once that mount is up, then you can attach the fixture from that end and proceed to the junction box end. First attach the stranded ground wire; it goes between the 2 washers on the green screw, the building ground wire goes between the upper washer and the plate. DO NOT USE WIRE NUTS FOR THE GROUND; YOUR FIXTURE MAY NOT BE GROUNDED! With the ground wire secure and holding the junction box end up, attach the hot and neutral; the two black wires from the fixture can go on either wire. Now try to get the junction box cover on. You may need to twist it a bit for the holes to line up with the mounting plate. If the fixture it drooping too much, leaving it hanging by the wires and adjust the hanger wire raising the fixture a few inches, then get the junction box cover on and the decorative nuts on and tight. Finally put a level on the fixture and adjust the fixture for the final level position. We purchased Monroe model because we are trying to replace an old bath fixture that has an offset box. The light looks nice, however the mounting plate cannot be secured down with any kind of screw - so there is no way to get this light to not spin on a wall! We are attempting to try to reuse the old light hardware, which is slightly wrong size, or find an alternate at the hardware store. Otherwise will be returning. Even if it was mounted on a ceiling, the light will spin with the mounting plate that they sent!Update 1 month later- I contacted the company through the email on their website, and sent the Amazon receipt and light model number. It turns out that because we purchased the light used- like new (repackaged), the rep was able to determine that we were actually missing a crucial piece! It took 3 weeks to receive to US from Canada, but it fixed our issue and the light works now! That's very excellent Custer service on the company's part when it wasnt their fault that whoever sent the item back didn't return it with all the hardware.I love this light fixture! It gives us the extra light we needed in our kitchen without having to run new electrical. This isn't difficult to install, however, it requires 2 people. My only complaint is the difficulty with putting in new bulbs. There's no room for your fingers to fit on the outside of the bulb when trying to screw them in. This caused a major headache and I finally gave up. Took the hubby quite a bit to figure out a way to get them in. I pray they last a while because I'm definitely NOT looking forward to changing them out! But, I guess it's a prove to pay to have the perfect light in my kitchen!as some other reviewers have pointed out, the mounting process can be tricky. priced at $40, this light was not designed carefully for ease of installation. the screws holding the canopy screw from above, meaning that you have to move the light to catch the tips of the screws while holding it in an awkward position. it helps to have a junction box not too fixed so you have some give to position it but it's also like shooting a moving target. be patient and resourceful during installation and i think you'll be happy with how it looks later. aesthetics alone, though, I love it! i recommend those long skinny edison bulbs to go with this. These lights are BEAUTIFUL!! And look expensive!! Of course, the key is to use Vintage Bulbs recommended online with these Fixtures! Would recommend and would buy again. We used 2 in the kitchen of Timber Frame home and 1 Just off Kitchen to highlight/backlight a large Island w Granite. And as always Amazon delivered on time..Great light east to install and extremely bright!Ours arrived with a slight defect in the wiring in one of the flexible arms which most likely happened in transit. My hubby is no stranger to wiring and was able to mend the defect. Fantastic looking light, especially for the price! Giving it a 4 because some steps could be taken to package the light a little tighter so that it doesn't get damaged in transit.I'm not sure why it was difficult to install for some people. I had it up and ready in about an hour. I had my son hold up the hanging end and then switch with me to drill a hole and mount the wire rope to the ceiling. The hardest part was getting the light bulbs in. I even came back a day latter and took one section out of the fixture to make it hang higher. The lights are very nice looking and well built. However, there are a few design and installation issues.1. 2 black wires - the hot and neutral wires are not marked very well. One black wire has a faint ridge that needs a magnifying glass to see.2. The instructions aren't very detailed. What do we do with the extra wire slack?3. Installing the bulbs are very difficult. They provide a suction cup to help, but it's too soft. When turning, the suction isn't strong enough and too flexible, that it twists. Really, the light diffuser should have a way to unscrew the extra length. This would add cost to the manufacturing process, but it would really make it easier. When choosing bulbs, make it easy on yourself and get one with a flat top. Ours weren't flat so the suction cup had a difficult time sticking to the light bulb while turning.Overall, it looks great when installed. Also, the price is pretty good for what you get.The specs say 3000K and 90 CRI which is supposed to be warm and have high color rendering (0-100). If it does meet these specs something is off. The light reminds me of florescent tube lighting. Another annoying thing is the buzz when dimmed. Going to try and return, not the quality expected for the price.Very nice. Looks great over my kitchen tableThe off centered install of this is exactly what I was looking for, and this was a great solution that saved big renos. Installation was pretty easy and it looks great! It was a unique track light but didn’t work for me - my place’s junction box was at the center. This is off to one side. Love the design but wouldn’t work on my set up.
